The 2013 FZ-09 is a premiere in Yamaha's line-up as it brings the 3-cylinder engine the manufacturer showed at the 2012 EICMA. While the new bike to be powered by that engine was a well-kept secret until the launch of the machine in the summer of 2013, it looks like this particular power unit will be used in more motorcycles.

The FZ-09 boasts the Crossplane Crankshaft, a special architecture which provides a more linear torque deployment for a more predictable throttle response and more precise riding. The 2013 Yamaha FZ-09 is loaded with the latest technologies, such as chip-controlled throttle and fly-by-wire, triple engine mappings, high-performance fuel injection, and revised ergonomic for attaining the top-class handling which is rightfully expected from such a naked beast.

The FZ-09, which replaces the FZ8 in Yamaha’s sport lineup, is a completely new model. In the tech presentation before handing over the keys, Yamaha described the new FZ as “a naked sportbike that combines an emotional performance character and fundamental value.” Emotional performance comes via its surprising Inline Triple. This aspects make the FZ-09 one of the most intriguing models to debut this year.
