The Yamaha GX 400 was a Four stroke, parallel twin, air cooled Classic motorcycle produced by Yamaha in 1978. Max torque was 24.34 ft/lbs (33.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 37.01 HP (27.6 KW) @ 8800 RPM.


Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a Air cooled cooled Four stroke, parallel twin. The engine featured a 9.2:1 compression ratio.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 3.50-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single disc in the front and a Single disc in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual shocks. The GX400 was fitted with a fuel tank. The bike weighed just 168 kg.

1978 Yamaha GX 400[edit | edit source]

It had a small body same as GX250, which was its series model. Its square body was inherited from the RD series, the 2-stroke road bike.
