Engine

The engine was a Liquid cooled cooled Four stroke, 70°V-twin cylinder. DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder. The engine featured a 10.5:1 compression ratio.

Chassis

It came with a 100/90-18 front tire and a 110/90-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2x 266mm discs in the front and a Single 177mm drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic oil damped forks while the rear was equipped with a Gas filled monoshock, 2-way adjustable.. The XZ400D was fitted with a 17 Liters / 4.4 US gal fuel tank.
