BMW F 650 GS

I'm not sure because I don't own a BMW but I don't think any motorcycle consumes oil. Oil is used, but unless it has a leak or the engine is old you shouldn't loose any of that oil used for lubrication. I have never owned an injector type bike, but I know with my carbureted bikes they don't wear out and automatically increase fuel consumption. They may need cleaned every once on a while if the bike sits for a long time, but it's probably pretty hard for gas to warp openings in jets and that is pretty much the job of the carbs, to spray the gas through jets into cylinders. Carbs are always adjustable and can be brought back into spec if they do come out of it.

Ok, i understand. I just thought carburettors will wear out fast... Maybe someone with a BMW can tell me if the water cooling has disadvantages or not...Why am i asking that ? Because i have a few friends that are complaining about water cooling on their Cagiva...A liquid cooled engine is more sophisticated than the air cooled one , so the pump may fail....hmmmmm

That is true, it is the price we pay for luxury sometimes.

Watercooling works better but adds wieght and a possibility of a break down.But it also cools the engine better,and keeps the engine at the best running temp better.I wouldnt worry about water cooling.In 20 plus years of riding Ive never heard of a water pump going on a bike or of any coolent related brakedowns.But I have
had two air cooled bikes sieze up on me.

I would like to buy a BMW F 650 GS from 1994-1995.I would like to know what are the disadvantages of this bike... (does it consume oil, how much?) . Since i don't have money for the Fuel Injection type, is the carburettor type OK? Or after a while the carburettors wear out and the fuel consumption increases astronomically?
