Default Ignition coil swap.

What's the feasibility of swapping in a later model (mid eighties) dual output high voltage 12volt coil onto my '80 R100rs? I know the two 6 volt coils are wired in series so the output voltage should be correct. But is there any hangups or problems I should be aware of? Is there something elementary I'm not thinking of? Help me out if any of you out there have done this. Thanks!
