2002 Honda VT750 Shadow?

So, as I mentioned in a previous thread, my bike was stolen over the weekend. It was my only mode of transportation, so no time for mourning :) -- need to get some new wheels soon because I'm already getting tired of carpooling.

That said, a local dealership has a pretty decent deal on a 2002 Honda VT750 Shadow. I could almost completely buy it with the insurance payoff and just a smidge out of pocket. Does anyone know about these bikes and this year?

Any issues or annoyances? As an example, my old bike's model was known to backfire and often had petcock issues after a couple of years. That's kind of what I'm going for; any common problems that these bikes have.

Also, kind of a newb question: my bike that was stolen was had a belt final drive and I see this is a chain. Is a chain a pain in the a**? It seems like all I hear about from people with chains is the maintenance headaches involved or is that exaggerated?

I have a 2001 750 ACE. GREAT BIKE! I have put a Kuryakin (sp?) Hypercharger and drag pipes on and have had no issues with this bike at all. It's actually in the Calendar Contest month of March..
For me personally , the Honda's I have owned have been bullet-proof worry-free riding...

The chain really doesn't take that long to clean and lube. You might have to adjust it at times and once you do it a couple of times it won't take any time at all. It's pretty easy...if I can do it I know you can.

I can't say much about belt vs chain, but I have 2006 shadow Aero 750. It has a drive shaft on it. I'm told its not quite as much power, but it is definately a low maintenance option. Unfortunately, I need to sale mine due to needing another form of transport in rainy weather. Good luck on the bike, any honda bike should be a great and reliable ride.
