I just bought an '07 C90T, which is the basically the same engine as your 1500. It has only 4,500 miles on it, so I'm not sure about your high mileage. However, this is my third Suzuki. I first bought an X-6 2-stroke 250, put tons of miles on it, and then stripped it down and ran it on trails. I ran the you-know-what out of it and never had a problem. My next one was a 550 4-stroke road bike. I put 47,000 miles on that bike in just a few months using it as a commuter between Kansas City and Minneapolis, and again, never had a problem with it. So, you may have already guessed, but I'm sold on Suzukis, no matter what my Harley friends say about my "rice rocket."

My CB750K parts bike I bought had 70k on it and ran like a top even after sitting outside in the weather for 6-7 years. I pulled the top end off the engine, the cylinders had no wear ridge at the top of the cylinder. I'm sure it was never rebuilt and the stock bore is still in spec. Everything in the top end was in good shape, valves, rockers, cam and so on. It was probably maintained good so it goes to show you properly maintained, motorcycle engines will last.

That really sells my point that Japanese make good cars and motorcycles. I've driven them for years, and if my little Ford Focus didn't have a Mazda motor in it, I wouldn't have bought it.
I couldn't agree with you more on that. I've had two Suzuki's in the past and have had two escorts with Mazada engines. Ya just can't kill them is for sure. Cheers D |

A friend of mine has an intruder 1400 '96 I believe. anyway it is approaching 40,000 miles with no major issues To this day his only gripe about his bike is the hideous paint scheme. I will more than likely be buying a suzuki for my next bike, I am flat out sold on their products. Just take a close look at all of the wear points on a bike of that many miles to make sure you stay safe on the road to the best of your control.

Heh, a bike I'm fixing up right now has 171,000 miles on it, and it still runs great. Also, it's been siting under a tarp for near 15 years. I don't think 73,000 is too much to worry about :P
