My family has had this bike for decades. I finally got a hold of it and want to restore it, but I have no idea what year or model it is. The title has been lost for who knows how long and I cant find anything like it online. I dont really know much about motorcycles, I just think it will be a fun project as well as a learning experience.
It has the autolube system and on one side there is a Trailmaster logo. On the bracket that holds the taillight and license plate there is an engraving that says Yamaha YHA-11. I dont think thats the model...probably just a part number. Any help identifying the bike would be appreciated. ht tp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a308/ccorey11/0723081849.jpg ht tp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a308/ccorey11/0723081805.jpg Apparently I cant post links or images until I have 15 posts under my belt. |

Welcome. The address isn't working for me when I cut and paste it. Can you post the first 6 numbers of the vin off the frame? |

The vin off the frame is Y20-326977.
The first thing I did was contact my local yamaha bike dealership to see if they could identify it. They said something like the bike is so old that the vin numbers dont have anything to do with the model, but I dont know if I believe that. when you copy and paste you have to delete the space between the "ht" and the "tp" |

The bike is a Yamaha 125 Y series rotary valve 2 stroke from the mid 1960's. best guess would be 1964 (auto oiler) and very rare. You can talk to the folks at Vintage Yamaha and get some solid ideas for restoring it. If it were mine I would not be putting that bike on the road. Rather, I would tear it down and restore it then ride it from time to time to keep it honest but only under the best of conditions. That thing is a keeper and a theft magnet to anybody that knows what it is.
Best of Luck.. Charlie |

hi i had a red yamaha like that it was a 1968 yamaha 80 enduro hope that gets you closer
In 1968 Yamaha pretty much lit up the United States market when they introduced the 2 stroke 250cc DT1 Enduro, which was the first dual purpose bike that was truly dirt worthy while being quite capable of hitting the streets. |
