What should I pay for a new 08 Yamaha R6-S?

Hello I am going to purchase a motorcycle soon and have put a deposit down on a new 2008 Yamaha R6-S (black).I live on Long Island, New York and was told a price of $7,900 and after taxes and all it will come out to about $9,000.I will also be getting a free helmet ((Sparx)) or a brand like that included.Is this right or should I be getting this for cheaper?Thanks - JoeThe bike is being financed and the tax rate is 8.625% on long island ( Suffolk county )We didn't come up with an exact price yet I just want to go in there knowledgeable on what I am getting into.$7900 w/ tax comes out to: $8583From what I saw when I was in there the helmet was $150 and up. MSRP on the 2008 R6S is $8300. That is obviously before taxes, tags, title, and other possible expenses of buying a new vehicle. That doesn't include a helmet. So it sees as though you are getting a decent deal. Free helmet? Why exactly does come out to $9000? You should be paying taxes, tags, title fees and may be a few other things, but for it to come out an additional $1100.What tax percentage do you have to pay for a new vehicle? Sounds like you may be getting this bike financed.With your additional comments, that sounds about right then. You're getting a practically brand new bike, priced $400 under MSRP. I think you'll be paying the taxes, title/registration/tags fees up front. I wouldn't complain too much. Just make sure you have shopped around for it. How much is the free helmet normally?
