how much are you worth? if you are worh nothing and will never be worth anything and the lesser amount is ok with your state and you are fine with not being able to cover someone medical bills if you hurt them then go with the lesser amount.do you have a good job? own a house ( or expect to some day)? get the highest amount you can afford.

Liability is fairly inexpensive. As mentioned above, it is most important to cover your assets. If you own a house or other expensive asset (business, car, etc) you will want enough to cover those items. You can definitely go with the lowest possible liability and always could increase it later too, but make sure you're not screwing yourself in the long run if you're at fault in an accident.
