Okay...so I'm on vacation right now in Newfoundland, Canada. My father and I are riding our bikes across the province. We're about 10 km's out from our final stop tonight......and I got myself into a tank slapper. :eek

I seriously thought I was off the bike and I think that's when I started shitting my pants.

I'm still pretty damn shaken but I'm okay and so is Boo.

Probably the scariest thing I've ever had happen on a bike.

But I've got some great pics....I'll post them up when I'm home.

Lesson of the day:
Tankslappers are bad mmmmkay?! :eek

I don't have one but I will definitely be investing in one over the winter!

I hit a pretty minor pot hole (couldn't avoid it) and it was game over from there.

I just keep going over and over again the whole scene in my mind. Probably the closest I've ever been to coming off this bike. :cry

Glad to hear you are OK.

I had one like that a few months ago.

About the time I realized that it had gone on too long and I wasn't going to recover, I started to look for soft places to land once I got bucked. I knew that I would roll to the right once I landed to avoid any traffic coming up behind me.

All of a sudden, it ended and the bike regained its composure. It took me a few minutes to regain mine. :laughing

Been there, although mine have typically been induced by a little too heavy of a throttle hand on corner exits. My 636 has no problem lofting that front just enough to get me crossed-up, so it's gotten hairy a couple times. I still don't have a steering damper, but may look into one before I ride that thing again (particularly as it may become a trackbike).

Good for you Kell for pulling out of it, you didn't freak and let go of the handlebars or something else that could have caused a crash. Glad you made it!!!! :clap
