The GL500I'81 Silver Wing Interstate was sold in 1981 and came in one of two colors: Candy Muse Red or Cosmo Black Metallic. The pinstripes were gold. The bike had a Pro-Link suspension and a dual front disc brake. The modular seat and trunk design had three configurations: A dual seat with no trunk; a solo seat with a small trunk, a solo seat with a backrest and a large trunk. The saddlebags were removable. The engine was a 496cc OHV liquid-cooled V-twin with a 5-speed transmission and shaft drive. The serial number began JH2PC021*BM000007.
