Described by author David Wright as 'the patriarch of Harley-Davidson dealers', he came from Chico, California where he grew up buying, selling and racing bikes when he had the money. He secured a job with Frank Murray's Harley-Davidson dealership in Sacramento in July 1937 and eventually took it over in 1949. His ability to mix with all levels of riders (from the Harley and Davidson families to Hell's Angels) helped business and the dealership grew. Despite the chance to take on Japanese and British franchises. Magri stayed loyal to Harley-Davidson, and retired in the early 1980s, aged 72, leaving a large, healthy business behind.
