The Yamaha YZF-R3 was a twin, four-stroke Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Yamaha between 2015 and 2019. Max torque was 21.83 ft/lbs (29.6 Nm) @ 9000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 41.17 HP (30.7 KW) @ 10750 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a liquid cooled twin, four-stroke. A 68.0mm bore x 44.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 321.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 6-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the multiplate clutch.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 110/70-17 front tire and a 140/70-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. optional abs. in the front and a single disc. optional abs. in the rear. The front suspension was a inverted telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a monocross single shock, adjustable preload. The YZF-R3 was fitted with a 3.7 Gallon (14.00 Liters) fuel tank. The wheelbase was 54.29 inches (1379 mm) long.
2017 Yamaha YZF-R3[edit | edit source]
Yamaha has avoided the entry-level sport bike market. That changed with the 2015 YZF-R3. The YZF-R3 is a sporty, light, fun, and reasonably priced bike that’s ready for the street or the track. Comparable to the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR300R, and KTM’s RC390, the YZF-R3 is a basic sport motorcycle. As such, it doesn’t feature different ride modes, a fancy dashboard, or damping adjustments on the rear suspension. Despite all of that, at $4,990, you still get a smooth riding, light, and nimble bike that is comfortable on the street and fun on the track.
