Overview
Yamaha TMAX 530SX Sport
Yamaha announces SX Sport Edition of its mega-seller TMAX maxi-scooter capable, fun, practical and surprising. Upon its release in 2001, Yamahas TMAX scooter became an instant favourite and best-seller, combining the cornering capabilities of a motorcycle with the ease of use and simplicity of a scooter. More than a quarter-million units have been sold over the last 18-years through six generations of TMAX, with models receiving various updates and tweaks along the way. For 2018, Yamaha has taken the line-up even further in the form of the new TMAX SX Sport. The Sport Edition gets an Akrapovic exhaust with TMAX written on it, plus a short sports-cut screen and a "sporty" license plate holder. And that's about it. It shares things like keyless ignition, traction control, a 12-volt charging socket, two-mode throttle mapping and My TMAX Connect with the regular SX model. The connectivity software gives you a bunch of Bluetooth abilities, plus the ability to track your bike, and geofence the area it'll work in, if you're letting somebody else ride it.
It doesn't get cruise control like the DX, or an electronically
adjustable screen, and there's no mention of any extra power. The heart
of the scoot is the same liquid-cooled, 45 horsepower, 530cc,
four-stroke, DOHC, parallel-twin wrapped in the existing aluminum
chassis and driven by a V-Belt Automatic CVT transmissionas last year.
With this model, it appears Yamaha is taking aim at BMW's C650 and
C400X, Suzuki's Burgman 400 and 650s, and the rest of the increasingly
refined large-scooter segment.
