The engine was a Air cooled with centrifugal fan cooled Two stroke, single cylinder. The engine featured a 7.2:1 compression ratio.
Drive[edit | edit source]
Power was moderated via the Multi plate.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 2.75 x 9" front tire and a 2.75 x 9" rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Hydraulic shock absorber with rubber elements while the rear was equipped with a Hydraulic shock absorber. The 50 Elestart was fitted with a 5.6 L / 1.5 US gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 67.5 kg / 148 lbs.

Vespa 50 Elestart
The Vespa 50 Elestart Series I was launched with an electric start and was targeted at women. The batteries were housed in the left side of the engine and the spare tire, if required, was placed behind the leg shield. The gearbox was the three-speed unit. The Vespa 50 Elestart Series II was launched in 1975 and had a four-speed gearbox. Through its production the Elestart remained a novelty and is considered to be ahead of its times.
