The AJP PR7 Adventure 650 is a single cylinder, four-stroke enduro / offroad motorcycle produced between 2015 and 2019. Max torque was 42.78 ft/lbs (58.0 Nm) @ 5500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 46.94 HP (35.0 KW) @ 6000 RPM.

The PR7 was first shown as a prototype in Cologne last year. AJP describes it as an adventure tourer with an off-road bike at its core. It says this production version is light, compact, agile and comfortable, capable of carrying luggage and covering distance.

The trail segment is still one of the most dynamic in the motorcycle industry, with all major manufacturers being present, some of them with a considerable number of alternatives, offering a wide range of products, and above all with a market performance that shadows some of the classic segments of the recent past.

However, despite all the investment done, resulting in a sustainable growth of the category, the roots of the trail philosophy have been forgotten. The path is dominated by increasing performance, complex technology, high weight and less off road potential.

This is how the trail segment has evolved, with bikes more and more oriented for use on the highway, extremely comfortable and effective on the road, but unable to perform on the dirt.

AJP is, from the very first day, a brand with off road on its veins and any new model must follow the roots, even if we are entering a very important segment and fighting with all the big names of the industry.

From the first prototype we kept the new generation of the proved hybrid frame made of aluminum and steel, now even lighter, compact and rigid, using two lightweight twin spars bolted to the compact steering head that is used also as an oil reservoir.

Thie engine is a compact, light and modern unit, perfect to fit in the philosophy of the model, but also a great option if you consider that it is equipped with balancer shaft (low vibration) and a six speed gearbox, allowing for the perfect exploration of the strong but smooth power produced by the liquid cooled single cylinder, with double overhead camshaft and four valves.

Experienced users know that there is nothing like a single to ride on the dirt, a predictable engine with small dimensions and immediate response from the smallest throttle opening, but with this unit, there is also room for traveling on the road with smoothness and enough power to cruise on the highway.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The engine was a liquid cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 100.0mm bore x 76.4mm stroke result in a displacement of just 659.7 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 6-speed transmission. The final drive was via chain.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 90/90-21 front tire and a 140/80-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc. 2-piston calipers in the front and a single disc. single-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a zf sachs ø48mm fully adjustable while the rear was equiped with a zf sachs progressive system with reservatory fully adjustable. The PR7 Adventure 650 is fitted with a 4.49 Gallon (17.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighs just 341.72 pounds (155.0 Kg). The wheelbase is 60.63 inches (1540 mm) long.

2016 AJP PR7[edit | edit source]

2016 AJP PR7

The 2016 MY AJP PR7 is the newest addition for the Portuguese brand's line-up, and sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 600cc, single cylinder powerplant paired to a six-speed manual transmission. This makes it the largest motorcycle built by them.

It also boasts standard features that enhance its off-road capabilities such as laced wheels with knobby tires mounted on them, a 48mm upside-down telescopic fork, a Sachs piggy-back monoshock in the rear with an AJP progressive linkage system, a large, 300mm front disc brake, and a capacious, 17-liter, under-seat mounted fuel tank, which significantly increases its range, as well as lowers its center of gravity, for a more manageable machine.
