The bike has a 5-speed, manual transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, single plate, diaphragm spring.

ChassisEdit

It came with a 110/80 R19 front tire and a 150/70 R17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 297mm discs, 3-piston calipers in the front and a single 250mm disc, 3-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a BMW Motorrad Telelever while the rear was equipped with a BMW Motorrad Paralever. The R 1100 GS was fitted with a 6.6 Gallon (25.00 Liters) fuel tank.
