The 2000 MY Bimota SB8R Special has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 133 horsepower an 93 Nm of torque.

Also, it comes with a single seat, a digital and analogue instrumentation panel, a small windscreen, a full-fairing, blacked-out, forged-aluminium wheels, dual headlamps, an under-seat exhaust system, Brembo brakes with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear and a race-grade suspension package with a 46mm Paioli inverted fork and a fully-adjustable Ohlins mono-shock.
