The bike has a 2w/4w shaft driven with Visco-Lok front differential transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 26 x 8 x 12 front tire and a 26 x 10 x 12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers in the front and a Single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with hydraulic twin-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-Arm while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing arm Independent. The wheelbase was 59.02 inches (1499 mm) long.

Just like the rest of the top-notch machines, the 2012 Outlander MAX 1000 XT offers tri-mode dynamic power steering, watertight storage, generous luggage racks, and a wide variety of accessories, to add as much functionality as needed to this wonderful off-road adventure machine.
An automatic dual-ratio transmission and selectable 2/4WD provide easy-to-use and dependable performance, even for less experienced riders. A Visco-lock QE automatic differential locking is standard, and so are engine braking and the winch, providing a dependable helping hand in tight situations. The padded passenger backrest is convertible, for more luggage space in case you ride solo.
