The Ducati 1098S was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati between 2007 and 2008. Max torque was 89.99 ft/lbs (122.0 Nm) @ 8000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 159.98 HP (119.3 KW) @ 9750 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
A 104.1mm bore x 104.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 1099.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a straight cut gears transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, multiplate, hydraulic.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/55 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 330mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 245mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Ohlins fully-adjustable upside-down fork, TiN-coated while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins TTXR fully-adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The wheelbase was 56.3 inches (1430 mm) long.
2007 Ducati 1098S[edit | edit source]
The "S"-suffixed version of the Ducati 1098 has received upgrades both in terms of performance and maneuverability, as well as in the visual department. Unlike its sibling, it has a red finish on its rear frame, red-pinstriping on its blacked-out wheels and blacked-out exhaust mufflers. In addition, its suspension package has been upgraded to an Ohlins one with a TiN-coated, 43mm fully-adjustable upside-down fork and an Ohlins TTXR rear monoshock, an Ohlins steering damper, forged-aluminum Marchessini rims and it tips the scale at just 173 kg (381 lbs).
2008 Ducati 1098S[edit | edit source]
The 2008 MY Ducati 1098S has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 1099cc, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerplant, paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 160 horsepower and 122 Nm of torque.
Also, it has features such as an Ohlins suspension package, composed of a TiN-coated, 43mm fully-adjustable upside-down fork and a fully-adjustable TTXR monoshock with progressive linkage in the rear, Brembo brakes with dual front discs, dual headlights, Marchessini forged-aluminum wheels and technologies such as ABS and Ducati's Data Analysis System.
