It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Showa adjustable upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.

The 1998 MY Ducati 916 Senna was launched with a new paint scheme, which features a lighter gray, as opposed to its previous embodiment. In all other departments, it has remained unchanged, and still combines the 916 engine with the SP chassis, which make for one of the most interesting machines in the 1998 MY Ducati roster. In the engine department it sports a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected, 916cc, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic engine, that could produce a claimed 109 horsepower and 90 Nm of torque.
