The Ducati 996SPS was a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Ducati between 2000 and 2001. Max torque was 73.02 ft/lbs (99.0 Nm) @ 7000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 124.04 HP (92.5 KW) @ 9500 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
A 99.1mm bore x 99.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 996.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 6-speed, manual transmission.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70 ZR17 front tire and a 190/50 ZR17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 220mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Ohlins fully-adjustable upside-down fork, TiN-coating while the rear was equipped with a Ohlins adjustable monoshock with progressive cantilever linkage. The wheelbase was 55.51 inches (1410 mm) long.
2000 Ducati 996SPS[edit | edit source]
The 2000 MY Ducati 996SPS has replaced the 916SPS, even though, displacement-wise, it is the same machine, the Italian engineers fitting the 916 with an 996cc engine from 1997. It boasts a maximum power output of 124 horsepower and 99 Nm of torque from its liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant that was paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive.
Also, it comes with an Ohlins fully-adjustable upside-down fork with TiN-coating, an Ohlins adjustable monoshock with a progressive cantilever linkage as a rear suspension, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, cast-magnesium wheels, a single seat, a digital instrumentation panel, an under-seat dual exhaust system and a Brembo braking system with dual front disc brakes and a single disc in the rear.
2001 Ducati 996SPS[edit | edit source]
The 2001 MY Ducati SPS is one of the most powerful liter-class machines available on the market up to date. It comes with an Ohlins fully-adjustable upside-down fork with TiN-coating, an Ohlins adjustable monoshock with a progressive cantilever linkage as a rear suspension, a full-fairing with a small windscreen, cast-magnesium wheels, a single seat, a digital instrumentation panel, an under-seat dual exhaust system and a Brembo braking system with dual front disc brakes and a single disc in the rear.
In the engine department it is powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin powerplant paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 124 horsepower and 99 Nm of torque.
