DriveEdit

The bike has a straight cut gears transmission. Power was moderated via the dry, multiplate, hydraulic control.

ChassisEdit

It came with a 120/70-17 front tire and a 180/55-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual 320mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a single 245mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm Showa fully-adjustable upside-down fork while the rear was equipped with a Sachs fully-adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage. The wheelbase was 57.09 inches (1450 mm) long.

The "S"-suffixed version of the Ducati Monster 1000 has been equipped with a headlight-mounted micro-fairing, a rear seat cover, a carbon-fiber exhaust guards, carbon-fiber side panels, an aluminum swingarm and a redesigned suspension system, that offers a higher ground clearance and seat height, which significantly improve its maneuverability.

In the engine department it is powered by a four-stroke, air-cooled, fuel-injected, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerplant that was paired to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, and can reach a maximum power output of 84 horsepower and 84 Nm of torque.

The 2004 MY Ducati Monster 1000S has, at its heart, an air-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected, 90-degree V-Twin desmodromic powerhouse, mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, that can produce a claimed 84 horsepower and 84 Nm of torque.

Also, it has standard fittings such as a 43mm Showa fully-adjustable upside-down fork, a Sachs fully-adjustable monoshock with progressive linkage, Brembo brakes with dual front discs and a single disc in the rear, a steel trellis frame, three-spoked Marchessini lightweight wheels, a single seat and a digital and analogue instrumentation panel.
