The 1990 MY Gilera XR2 125 comes with features such as a dual seat with passenger grab rails, a rear luggage rack, wide handlebars with hand-guards, dual headlights, a Paioli upside-down telescopic front fork coupled to a Boge monoshock in the rear, laced wheels with off-road tires mounted on them, an engine mud-guard and a small, under-seat exhaust system.

In the engine department it is powered by a two-stroke, liquid-cooled, 124cc, single cylinder powerhouse, mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a chain final drive, that can produce a claimed 26 horsepower and 19 Nm of torque.
