The engine was an [[air cooled]] dual cylinders, four-stroke. A 50.0mm [[bore]] x 41.0mm [[stroke]] resulting in a [[displacement]] of just 162.7 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via twin carbs and shared a common choke control.  Two valves per cylinder operated by overhead camshaft (ohc) with tappets accessible through screw on covers to front of cylinder head, and points and condenser(Capacitor) under a cover at one end of the camshaft.. Ignition by one coil with a +ve lead to one plug and -ve to the other, circuit was completed via engine block and both plugs fired together.  (Lost spark system). At firing, one cylinder was approaching TDC on the compression stroke, while the other was approaching TDC at the end of its exhause stroke.  Both pistons moved in unison. Centrifugal oil filter, never required changing.  Easily cleaned by removing one side cover.  Electric starter driving through three ball bearings spring loaded to jam between starter ring and crankshaft ring, at engine start, balls were retracted by centrifugal force. A 12 volt lead-acid battery supplied power to lights and starter and was recharged via a crankshaft driven alternator.

It came with a 80/100-17 front [[tire]] and a 110/90-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake). optional combined breaking system (cbs) in the rear. The front suspension was a  telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a monoshock. The CB Unicorn 160 was fitted with a 3.17 Gallon (12.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 297.62 pounds (135.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 52.13 inches (1324 mm) long.

Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front (Twin leading shoe on 1966 models) and an expanding drum brake, optional combined braking system (cbs) in the rear. The front suspension was a  telescopic fork with friction adjust, while the rear was equipped with a three position monoshock. The wheelbase was 52.13 inches (1324 mm) long.  A fairly comprehensive tool kit was located inside a tube behind and beneath the engine.
