The bike has a 6-speed manual or DCT optional transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi-disc, manual or DCT.

It came with a 110/80-R19 front tire and a 150/70-R17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 310mm disks, Combined ABS in the front and a 276mm disk, Combined ABS in the rear. The front suspension was a 43mm inverted telescopic forks with hydraulic damping, preload and rebound damping adjustment while the rear was equipped with a Pro-Link with gas-charged damper, preload and stepless rebound damping adjustment. The wheelbase was 159.49 inches (4051 mm) long.

Powered by a big, 1237cc V4 engine, the 2012 Crosstourer Special Edition also brings in the convenience of the DCT gearbox with its hybrid operation. Riders can either use manual shifting or a fully-automatic one with 2 mappings for casual and sport riding.
