The Honda XR500 was a dirtbike produced by Honda between 1979 and 1984. It had a 498cc Air cooled engine. All XR500s after 1980 were XR500Rs. It could reach a top speed of 93 mph (150 km/h). Max torque was 30.61 ft/lbs (41.5 Nm) @ 5500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 85.15 HP (63.5 KW) @ 6500 RPM.
Engine
The engine was a air cooled single cylinder, four-stroke. A 89.0mm bore x 80.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 500.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead cams (ohc).
Drive
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet plate.
Chassis
Stopping was achieved via expanding brake (drum brake) in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The front suspension was a oil dumped telescopic while the rear was equipped with a pivoted rear fork. The XR500 was fitted with a 5.28 Gallon (20.00 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 271.17 pounds (123.0 Kg). The wheelbase was 55.12 inches (1400 mm) long.
