The engine was a oil & air cooled v2, four-stroke. A 57.0mm bore x 48.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 124.0 cubic centimeters. The engine featured a 10.3:1 compression ratio. Fuel was supplied via a double overhead cams/twin cam (dohc).

The 1999 MY Hyosung GV125 Aquila sports an air-cooled, four-stroke, 124cc, V-Twin powerhouse paired to a six-speed manual transmission, and can produce 14 horsepower and 10 Nm of torque. Thus American-style cruiser comes standard with a telescopic front fork, dual rear shocks, a chromed, 2-into-2 exhaust system, lightweight, cast=aluminum wheels, a two-piece, two-up seat, chrome engine covers and a chromed headlight.
