The Laverda 500 Formula was a air-cooled, four-stroke, parallel twin cylinders, DOHC, 180-degree crankshaft Sport Bike motorcycle produced by Laverda in 1977.
Engine[edit | edit source]
A 71.1mm bore x 71.1mm stroke result in a displacement of just 497.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a gears transmission.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 90/90 S18 front tire and a 110/90 H18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2x 260mm discs 2 piston calipers in the front and a single 260mm disc 1 piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Marzocchi telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a swinging arm fork, adjustable Marzocchi shock absorbers.
1977 - 1980 Laverda 500 Formula[edit | edit source]
The Laverda 500 Formula is a limited edition race-derived machine, with a production of just 210 units between 1977 and 1980. It addressed the more adventurous among Laverda fans, and not only, boasting race-derived parts such as the Marzocchi telescopic front fork, the adjustable Marzocchi dual shock absorbers in the rear, and a Brembo braking system with dual 260 mm discs in the front and a single 260 mm disc in the rear.
At its heart lies an air-cooled, four-stroke, 497cc, parallel twin cylinder engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission. Also, it weighed only 172 kg, making it one of the most agile half-liter available on the market.
