The Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans Mark 1 was a Air cooled, four stroke, transverse V-twin cylinder, OHC, 2 valve per cylinder Sport touring motorcycle produced by Moto Guzzi in 1976. Max torque was 58.27 ft/lbs (79.0 Nm) @ 6000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 70.94 HP (52.9 KW) @ 6700 RPM.
Engine[edit | edit source]
A 82.8mm bore x 82.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 844.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Dry wet.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 4.10-18 front tire and a 4.25-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Doble discs 300 mm in the front and a Single disc 242 mm in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm. The wheelbase was 57.91 inches (1471 mm) long.
1976 - 1978 Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans Mark 1[edit | edit source]
The heart of the bike is an 844cc engine which, breathing through twin 36 mm carburetors produces a very healthy 81hp at 7600 rpm. That figure is impressive enough, but it doesn't really convey exactly what the engine is like. The engine and transmission sit in a large duplex frame with the sump hanging down between the bottom tubes giving the bike a low centre of gravity. The patented integral braking system has many advantages. Stopping in a shorter distances without fear of unbalancing the motorcycles.
