The DR 125S was presented as a 1982 year's model, suitable as an entry-level enduro bike. As for some other DR models, the DR 125S available in different versions. At first, there were the pure trail version, DR 125, with no license plate holder or mirrors, and the DR 125S, a street-legal version of the same bike. In 1994 an electric starter was added, and the street legal version's name was changed to DR 125SE.
