The Triumph Thruxton Ace Special Edition was a Liquid cooled, parallel twin, SOHC Classic motorcycle produced by Triumph in 2016. Max torque was 50.16 ft/lbs (68.0 Nm) @ 5800 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 67.99 HP (50.7 KW) @ 7400 RPM.

The engine was a Air-cooled cooled Four stroke, parallel twin cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. The engine featured a 9.2:1 compression ratio.

Power was moderated via the Wet, multi-plate.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 100/90 R18 front tire and a 130/80 R17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Single 320mm disc, Nissin 2 piston floating caliper in the front and a Single 255mm disc, Nissin 2 piston floating caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a 41 mm Forks with adjustable preload while the rear was equipped with a Chromed spring twin shocks with adjustable preload. The Thruxton Ace Special Edition was fitted with a 16 Liters / 4.2 US gal / 3.5 Imp gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 214 kg / 472 lbs. The wheelbase was 1490 mm / 58.7 in long.

Triumph has revealed this special edition version of the Thruxton called the Ace which celebrates the link between the British manufacturer and the famous London café so synonymous with motorcycle history. The Ace gets a unique black and white paintjob, Oxblood custom seat, bar-end mirrors, a handlebar plaque and officially sanctioned Ace Café logos and comes with the usual wire wheels and 865cc parallel-twin engine. Triumphs press release states: With low slung handlebars, alloy-rimmed wire wheels and a central racing stripe running along the tank to the beautifully sculpted custom seat, the Triumph Thruxton Ace looks as if it would be equally at home on a classic race grid as outside the local café after a spirited morning ride. Featuring the same engine as the renowned Triumph Thruxton, power is provided by Triumphs 865cc signature parallel twin from the Bonneville. Producing peak power of 69PS and 69Nm of torque across a broad rev range, the Thruxton delivers its performance with a suitable increase in the edginess of the exhaust note from the classically styled chrome silencers. The Thruxton Aces chassis is based around the Bonneville, and meets Triumphs exacting standards by generating an assured, composed, yet agile ride at all times. Its steel tube frame, 41mm KYB forks, twin KYB rear shocks, Nissin disc brakes and wire spokes merge modern engineering with retro style to create a perfectly balanced bike. The deceptively sporty steering geometry gives the Thruxton Ace performance to match the engines unique character and progressive riding position.
It was the London truckers' cafe that became a favorite haunt of Britain's bikers and a powerful symbol of post-war counterculture. The Ace Cafe gained notoriety as the biker hang-out in the early 60's and formed an instrumental piece of the cafe racer culture of the era. The new Thruxton Ace celebrates the rich association of Triumph's history with the Ace Cafe. The Thruxton Ace combines the evocative silhouette of a true Triumph classic racer, with a fabulous one-off Pure White and Jet Black paint livery reflecting Triumph's long historical connection with the Ace Cafe. The bike is tastefully co-branded with Ace Cafe logos adorning the side panels, tank and tail section. Performance
The café racers were built to perform, not
just to look good.
Today, this 865cc parallel twin puts out a
healthy 69PS with 69Nm of torque at its peak, with plenty
available at low revs so you get most use out of it.
Fuel delivery is controlled by a sophisticated
computer programmed management system for clean emissions and a
smooth, predictable throttle response.
Configuration
The basic format is the same as the
current Bonneville, with 360 degree firing intervals, double
overhead cams, eight valves, twin balance shafts and fuel
injection. So you know it's a thoroughly modern engine that,
despite its convincing old-school looks, easily meeting
Triumphs high standard of reliability, durability and
efficiency.
Sound
It's the sound and feel of the engine that
matters, from the thumping thrust of the generous low rev torque
to the eager high revs and the purring, even exhaust note. So
distinctive to the parallel twin.
Frame
All of our extensive chassis experience
and technology has gone into the Thruxton Ace Cafe SEs simple
tubular steel construction. Providing easy, neutral steering and
exceptional balance even at low speeds.
Suspension
We fitted 41mm forks and chromed rear
shocks and retuned them for a firmer ride and tighter control in
high speed corners. The shocks include adjustability for spring
preload for carrying a passenger or to suit your riding style.
Brakes
We fitted the front with a big 320mm
single disc strong enough to match the sporting pedigree of the
Thruxton Ace Cafe SE with plenty of feedback to enhance your
ride. Yet we've made it as unobtrusive as possible within the
1960s styling.
At the rear is another disc, so theres no
compromise in the Thruxton Ace Cafe SE's thoroughly modern
braking performance.
Wheels and Tyres
The wheels are wire-spoked with aluminum
alloy rims, 18 inches at the front and 17 inches rear for the
classic café racer look. They're lightweight too, for increased
suspension performance and handling agility.
Handling
We kept the geometry similar to the
Bonneville's but with a little less trail at 97mm so you get
sharper steering and more urgent handling when ridden hard. But
the same neutral, obedient feel during less exuberant riding,
making the Thruxton Ace Cafe SE a rewarding as well as an easy
bike to ride.
Riding Position
Pure 1960s café racer but not at the
expense of comfort, that's what the Thruxton Ace Cafe SE is all
about. So there's a sporty forward lean that makes you look the
part. The footrests have been raised and set back to complement
the bar position, so you are close to the bike and can really
feel how the front end is performing.
Weve positioned the bar end mirrors to
work best when you are tucked down and forward, providing a good
view of the road behind around elbows and body.
But none of this is so extreme that it
spoils the feeling of versatility. You can still tour or commute
on the Thruxton Ace Cafe SE as well as take it for a sunny
Sunday burn.
