The Yamaha XV950 RACER was a 4-stroke, air-cooled, 4-valves, SOHC, V-type 2-cylinder Sport touring motorcycle produced by Yamaha in 2017. Max torque was 59.01 ft/lbs (80.0 Nm) @ 3000 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 52.03 HP (38.8 KW) @ 5500 RPM.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Yamaha have added one more machine to their 'Sport Heritage' range - the new XV950 Racer. The bike is powered by Yamaha's 942cc air-cooled 60-degree V-twin that produces a mere 52bhp and 79Nm of torque. Forged aluminum clip-on handlebars, new switchgear, rearset footrests, short and low chassis, singe seat, side number plates, Akrapovic exhaust and racy ergonomics complete the package. Yamaha claim that the XV950 Racer's suspension has been newly developed for better handling. Available colors include blue and matt gray.

Seat height is now 765mm, 75mm higher than the standard XV950 and XV950R models, and according to Yamaha, the new ergonomics have helped to centralise mass for improved handling.

As well as a new cover fitted to the steel rear fender and a headlight surround, the Racer has new switchgear, different levers, and newly positioned indicators mounted on the lower triple clamp.

The front and rear suspension has also been developed specifically for the bike, offering more travel than the standard models.

Engine[edit | edit source]

A 83.8mm bore x 83.8mm stroke result in a displacement of just 942.0 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 5-Speed transmission. Power was moderated via the Wet multi disc.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 100/90-19M/C 57H (Tubeless) front tire and a 150/80B16M/C 71H (Tubeless) rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Hydraulic single disc 298 mm in the front and a Hydraulic single disc 298 mm in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Swingarm. The wheelbase was 61.81 inches (1570 mm) long.
