The engine was a Liquid cooled cooled Four stroke, horizontal in line four cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. The engine featured a 11.5:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 120/70 R 17 front tire and a 190/50 R 17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2x 305 mm discs, 4-piston calipers in the front and a Single 285 mm disc, 2-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a BMW Motorrad Telelever, stanchion diameter 35 mm, central strut while the rear was equipped with a Die cast Aluminum single sided swinging arm with Paralever central strut, spring preload adjustable to continuously variable levels by mean of hydraulic hand wheel, rebound damping adjustable. The K1200RS was fitted with a 22 Liters / 5.8 US gal fuel tank.
