The Can-Am/ Brp Outlander 500 was a V-twin, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 8-valve (4-valve/cyl) ATV produced by Can-Am/ Brp between 2009 and 2013.

A 81.3mm bore x 81.3mm stroke result in a displacement of just 499.6 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 2w/4w shaft driven with Visco-Lok front differential transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 26 x 8 x 12 front tire and a 26 x 10 x 12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers in the front and a Single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with hydraulic twin-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-Arm while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing arm Independent. The wheelbase was 50.98 inches (1295 mm) long.

The 2008 Can-Am Outlander 500 is the bigger version of the basic 400 model,with a slightly bigger engine this time in a v-twin configuration and retaining all the off-road-worthy features. Perfect for off-the-road fun, this quad can also be a handy asset for work-related tasks which involve covering large areas of rough ground or hauling voluminous or heavy gear.

With independent suspensions, the 2008 Outlander 500 offers excellent ground tracking and fast, safe passage across large areas of less rider-friendly terrain, forest trails and plain roads, alike. The selectable 2/4WD and high/low ratios are great additions to the automatic transmission and are usable on the fly, for even more convenience on varying types of surfaces.

With selectable 2/4WD and engine braking as standard equipment, this ATV also comes with automatic transmission and a Visco-lock front differential.
