The Can-Am/ Brp Outlander MAX 500 XT was a V-twin, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 8-valve (4-valve/cyl) ATV produced by Can-Am/ Brp between 2008 and 2013.

Engine[edit | edit source]

A 81.3mm bore x 81.3mm stroke result in a displacement of just 499.6 cubic centimeters.

Drive[edit | edit source]

The bike has a 2w/4w shaft driven with Visco-Lok front differential transmission. Power was moderated via the Automatic CVT.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a 26 x 8 x 12 front tire and a 26 x 10 x 12 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with hydraulic twin-piston calipers in the front and a Single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with hydraulic twin-piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Double A-Arm while the rear was equipped with a Torsional Trailing arm Independent. The wheelbase was 59.02 inches (1499 mm) long.

The 2007 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 HO EFI XT brings together the basic brawn and dependability of the standard half-liter, the top-drawer extra features of the XT package and the comfort-oriented, two-up ergonomics. This ATV is equally suitable for off-road explorations with a passenger, but it can also double as a workhorse, as the pillion seat can be easily removed to make room for heftier loads.

This quad received 12-inch cast aluminum wheels, a powerful BRP winch, Carlisle ACT radial tires, front and rear bumpers and hand protectors are also included in the XT package.

The 2009 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 XT builds on the acclaimed and proven reliability of the base MAX 500 model, adding in functionality and a richer array of features. The beefing-up consists of the added tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering system which makes directional control easier and less fatiguing even on rock roads and other difficult situations.

However, the upgrades are not limited to that: a new Visco-Lock auto-locking front differential was added, 12-inch cast aluminum wheels, a powerful BRP winch, Carlisle radial tires, front and rear bumpers and hand protectors are also included in the XT package.

The 2010 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 XT is the beefed-up version of the base half-liter two-up model. It brings some extra equipment, such as the powerful winch, cast aluminum wheels and heavy-duty bumpers (front and rear) and had protectors for the rider.

The passenger seat can be easily converted for solo riding, or when a more ample luggage space is needed, and this makes the 2010 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 XT even more versatile. However, for two-up riding, the padded backrest and hand grabs add a lot of comfort and enhances safety, too.

Easy operation is ensured with the dual-range automatic transmission, while selectable 2/4WD and auto-locking front differential are a great match for the long-travel, independent suspensions and generous ground clearance.

The 2011 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 XT is a feature-laden ATV, sporting a powerful winch, solid rear and front bumpers, hand protectors and cast aluminum wheels with machined detail and the top-notch Dynamic Power Steering as standard equipment.

When riding two-up, the passenger will surely appreciate the padded backrest and multi-position hand grabs, while for solo riding, the rear seat can be converted so that the ATV receives a generous cargo box for extra functionality. The dual racks can accommodate up to 135 kg of gear, making this quad suitable for work tasks and outdoor adventures. This quad also offers digital instrumentation, an encoded key and easy-to-use dual-ratio automatic transmission, selectable 2/4WD with locking front differential, reverse and engine braking.

The 2013 Can-Am Outlander MAX 500 XT comes with a powerful heavy-duty WARN winch, solid rear and front bumpers, hand protectors and cast aluminum wheels with machined detail and the top-notch Dynamic Power Steering as standard equipment.

Luggage racks can accommodate up to 136 kg (300 lbs): a lot of gear and some extra fuel are essential for a serious off-road adventure, and this ATV can really haul a lot. If you travel alone, the convertible rear seat allows for a cargo box, too. For two-up riding, the passenger will surely appreciate the padded backrest and multi-position hand grabs.
