Overview[edit | edit source]
Ducati 900 Sport ie
Within the Ducati product range, the Supersport models represent both tradition and the end result of the ongoing EVOlution of technical expertise accumulated over decades. They respond to the needs of purists who conceive sport motorcycles in terms of design, handling, and their ability to instinctively and easily master the machine and its power-which equates to adequate, manageable power. These purists, who feel a strong bond with tradition, believe that the motorcycle should aim to achieve a highly consistent performance through an excellent power-to-weight ratio. The typical Supersport customer is someone who will shun the racetrack and go looking for back roads, far away from traffic, where top speed is unimportant. According to this motorcycling philosophy, what matters to the purist is acceleration, power response, and, above all, a chassis that will totally comply with their riding style, responding perfectly to their will. This would be a chassis with ample safety margins, capable of responding precisely and promptly to a change of direction in an emergency.
Now, for the first time, the Ducati Sport is available with a 900cc fuel injected Desmo 90 L-Twin engine. The front end of the bike is accented with 43mm upside-down forks and dual 320mm discs with Brembo calipers. High performance steel braided brake lines and a maintenance-free battery are standard equipment. All this is cradled by the exclusive Ducati Trellis frame to ensure confident, race-bred road manners.
