The engine was a Liquid cooled cooled Four stroke, 90° “L” twin cylinders,Testastretta DVT with Desmodromic Variable Timing, DOHC, 4 alves per cylinder. The engine featured a 11.5:1 compression ratio.

Drive[edit | edit source]

Power was moderated via the Light action, wet, multiplate clutch with hydraulic control. Self-servo action on drive, slipper action on over-run.

Chassis[edit | edit source]

It came with a Pirelli Scopion Trail II 120/70 R17 front tire and a Pirelli Scorpion Trail II 190/55 R17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x 330 mm Semi-floating discs, radially mounted Brembo monobloc Evo M50 4-piston callipers, 2-pad, radial pump with cornering ABS as standard equipment in the front and a Single 265 mm disc, 2-piston floating caliper, with cornering ABS as standard equipment in the rear. The front suspension was a Ohlins 48 mm fully adjustable usd fork with TiN treatment while the rear was equipped with a Fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 monoshock unit. Electronic compression and rebound damping adjustment with Ducati Skyhook suspension Evo (DSS). Aluminum single-sided swingarm. The Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak was fitted with a 20 Liters / 5.3 US gal / 4.4 Imp gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 208 kg / 458 lbs. The wheelbase was 1529 mm / 60.2 in long.

Ultralight carbon fibre componentry and the internationally homologated Ducati Performance by Termignonicarbon fibre silencer, enhance the motorcycle's competitive spirit.

This is Ducati’s first real foray into off-road motorcycles, and here have been several changes to the Multistrada 1200 to make it more ADV capable, the most important of which is the double-sided swingarm. Other changes include a 19″ front wheel, shod with knobby tires, a skid plate, and a higher-mounted single exhaust can.

"Sport" mode reveals the sportiest face of the Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak for road riding. Full power (160 Hp), an even more spontaneous and direct throttle response and a more restrained DTC/ABS/DWC intervention bring the full potential of the machine. In "Touring" mode, the control systems are set to ensure optimum performance on dry roads. This mode provides a gentle throttle response on dry roads. ""Touring"" combines full-engine power and torque with high controllability. "Urban" mode provides especially soft dosage and response characteristics to support the rider, max engine power is limited at 100 Hp. The DTC/DWC and ABS respond more readily than in ""Touring"" mode. The "Enduro" mode get the Multistrada 1200 ready to explore new enduro worlds. A soft throttle response with limited engine power (100 Hp), restrained control intervention, optimum brake distribution and ABS control.
