The engine was a Air cooled cooled Two stroke, single cylinder.. The engine featured a 6.8:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 3.50 -21 front tire and a 5.00 -18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Adjustable air forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual shock. The KDX400 was fitted with a 12 Liters / 33 US gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 109 kg / 240 lbs. The wheelbase was 1450 mm / 57.1 in long.
