Overview[edit | edit source]

Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman Racer Verde Legnano Special Edition

Piaggio revealed a new special edition 2015 Moto Guzzi V7 Racer for the North American market. Only 50 examples will be produced with the special “Verde Legnano” green finish and red frame that pays tribute to the rare 1971 Telaio Rosso Moto Guzzi V7 Sport.

Designed by Lino Tonti, the 1971 V7 Sport was intended to be the first five-speed production motorcycle that weighed 200 kg (440 lb.) and could reach a speed of 120 mph. Tonti created a special frame design to house the 748cc V-Twin, and Moto Guzzi highlighted it with a initial run of 150 units with a red frame (telaio rosso, in Italian).

For the 2015 limited edition model, Moto Guzzi swapped out the V7 Racer’s eye-catching chrome tank with the classic green paint. The chrome plating beneath the seat was replaced by a black panel, matching the new V7 II versions introduced at Intermot last fall. Unfortunately, the North American 2015 V7 line is based on the previous version, so it hasn’t received the other V7 II updates such as the sixth gear, tilted engine, lower footpegs and a seat height lowered to 31.1 inches. The 2015 model does receive a new wet flywheel, replacing the previous model’s dry alternator.
