::If you get a chance to eye-ball some Kawachem motor oil, can you check what API grade and/or JASO grade it is? I'm curious if their own oil meets those specs. Yamalube doesn't appear to be JASO certified. --Pi3832 11:57, 13 March 2007 (CDT) | ::If you get a chance to eye-ball some Kawachem motor oil, can you check what API grade and/or JASO grade it is? ::::Very interesting. I'm not sure where to further research that move to JASO grades. --Pi3832 14:24, 13 March 2007 (CDT)
:It would be excellent if we could find documents like this for other manufacturers to see if Kawasaki is the exception or if this is standard. One thing I don't know anything about is oil for Harleys. I thought many of them use wet clutches. If this JASO standard is important for all Japanese bikes, then wouldn't it seem odd if Harley wanted their oil to meet a JASO (Japanese standard)? Furthermore not that Harley is the end all be all resource, but it seems like they might have an alternative view on the "Additive" since they aren't a member of JASO (I assume). --Budlight 14:37, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

:It is definitely a mostly U.S. site. I've started covering bikes as U.S. models first then noting any significant changes in international versions. On the Model List pages I would like to have it in parenthesis if they aren't a U.S. model. --Budlight 13:58, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

::Ok first, I think that does establish that they can't void the warranty in whole. Secondly, I think it might be good to actually analyze the terms of some warranties before we state that as a rule. That is an interesting law, and I can see the reason for it. It wouldn't hurt at all to do more research on this issue. One thing I would be interested in is if the law is ever applied. I definitely made a mistake putting that up without a qualifier. --Budlight 13:58, 13 March 2007 (CDT) |
