Suzuki is also offering the V-Strom 650 in an ABS-equipped version for the riders who are more preoccupied by safety. The ABS-laden V-Strom is identical to the base version, and only comes with the few extra pounds the modulator brings.

Aside from the better braking, the ABS V-Strom behaves just like its sibling, sporting the same tech specs and streetability. The only way to tell these models apart is by examining the brake rotors and observing whether they have the ABS sensor rings or not.

It doesn't take a bike engineer to figure out that an A added to the codename of a motorcycle signals the presence of the ABS... in 99.5% of all cases. The 2009 model year V-Strom 650 ABS makes no exception to the rule so you're getting more control over the braking power when the going gets tough.

This V-Strom is offered as a separate model from the stock one, as the compact nature of the bike and different carriers are not allowing upgrades of the base model and are crated as such. On the tech side, the ABS-enabled V-Strom is not different form the base version.
