Overview[edit | edit source]

Suzuki DR 650R / S

The DR650 arrives in the beginning of 1990 in two different versions: DR650 Djebel (also called DR650R Dakar on some markets) and DR650RS. The appearence of the bikes are quite different but they shared the same mechanics. The most obvious differences between the models are that the Djebel (DR650R) didn't have the RS model's fairing and it had a dirt bike styled higher front mudguard. The RS was a lighter model, featuring smaller exhaust system etc. The DR650 engine is basically an enlargened DR600. It simply got bigger bore and longer stroke. But there's several differencies between the DR600 and the DR650 models. The whole bike, including the frame and suspension, was upgraded. The bigger brother is more comfortable than the 600 and its riding position is quite suitable for riding on the road as well on dirt.

The both DR650 models featured a fuel tank of 21 liter and a massive aluminum luggage carrier.
