Wood-Rotax SJ676 Grand Prix Racer
The Wood-Rotax SJ676 Grand Prix Racer designed and fabricated by Ron Wood and Steve Jentges in 1986. Only 16 of the bikes were built in total, despite its pristine condition the bike is a racer at heart and still holds the Formula Singles lap record, ridden by Walt Dorsch, with WSMC at Willow Springs Raceway with a time of 1:27.3. The Wood-Rotax SJ676 is powered by a Rotax single cylinder 676cc DOHC four-valve engine with dual intake and exhaust ports, a ported head with large valves and performance cams. The liquid cooled cylinder head has dual 40mm carbs, it has a dyno tuned dual exhaust and 6-speed close ratio gearbox. The frame was designed with internal oil storage and oil is delivered through the frame members to the engine for cooling. The Wood-Rotax has been thoroughly dyno tested and produces 71.8 HP at the rear wheel, it was featured in Cycle Magazine as The Worlds Fastest Single and riders have included Doug Toland, Andy Leisner, Kevin Atherton, Chris Carr and many others at Daytona, Talladega, Laguna Seca, Willow Springs and Las Vegas.
