The engine was a Air cooled cooled Two stroke, single cylinder. The engine featured a 6.7:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 3.00-18 front tire and a 3.50-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual shocks. The DX250 was fitted with a fuel tank. The bike weighed just 138 kg / 304.2 lbs.

Overview[edit | edit source]
This model was the 250cc version of the sport model RX350 released in April of the same year. Its newly designed 2-cylinder engine featured a 5-port layout, "Autolube" oil supply system and twin carburetors, and was mounted on a double cradle type frame made of high-tensile steel as on Yamaha's production racers. The un-sprung components included a Ceriani type front fork with an aluminum bottom case, a 3-way adjustable rear cushioning unit and completely dust- and water-proof drum brakes. It achieved light and agile handling that set a new standard for sport bikes of the time.
