2017 Yamaha RAPTOR 700R SE[edit | edit source]
This Yamaha features 2-wheel drive (4x2). While this results in less traction than a 4x4 system, it allows the vehicle to be lighter and handle better. This model is powered by a 4-valve, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 686cc engine, placing it in the big bore displacement class (650cc class and above) This Raptor features independent, double wishbone front suspension. In the rear, you'll find a swingarm system. As a bonus, the system is fully-adjustable.
In the front, travel is 9.1 in, while in the rear it is 10.1 in, a positive difference of 1 in. This means that the rear travels more than the front, which may signify that this model is designed to carry a lot of cargo (which would weigh down the rear and even the weight distribution). If the difference becomes too large, however, this vehicle runs the risk of bottoming out when navigating bumby, hilly terrain. The amount of travel up front means an additional 1.1% of motion over the typical big bore sport ATV.
