The engine was a Air cooled cooled Four stroke, transverse three cylinder, DOHC, 2 valves per cylinder. The engine featured a 9.2:1 compression ratio.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 3.25H-19 front tire and a 4.00H-17 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via 2 x 267mm Discs, 1 piston calipers in the front and a Single 267mm disc, 1 piston caliper in the rear. The front suspension was a Air assisted telescopic forks, 175mm wheel travel. while the rear was equipped with a Swing arm 4-way adjustable damping, 99 wheel travel. The XS850SG Special was fitted with a 24 Liters / 6.3 US gal fuel tank. The bike weighed just 241 kg / 531 lbs. The wheelbase was 1450 mm / 57.1" long.
