The Tomos BT50 was a single cylinder, two-stroke standard produced by Tomos between 1986 and 1993. It could reach a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Max torque was 3.69 ft/lbs (5.0 Nm) @ 7500 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 5.23 HP (3.9 KW) @ 8000 RPM.
The first models were the Tomos BT50 (without S) from 1986 to early 1988. From 1988 onwards, with the "S" badge. The Tomos BT50s has a visible difference on the front forks, brake disc, added trunk, indicators and several color combinations besides gray (red and blue). In 1992, TOMOS made the transition from ID plates with serial numbers to ID stickers without serial numbers, which also applied to the motorcycle BT50s.
Engine[edit | edit source]
The engine was a air cooled single cylinder, two-stroke. A 38.0mm bore x 43.0mm stroke result in a displacement of just 49.0 cubic centimeters.
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet plate.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
Stopping was achieved via single disc in the front and a expanding brake (drum brake) in the rear. The BT was fitted with a 2.51 Gallon (9.50 Liters) fuel tank. The bike weighed just 154.32 pounds (70.0 Kg).
