The Benelli 500 LS was a in-line four, four-stroke Naked motorcycle produced by Benelli between 1973 and 1980. It could reach a top speed of 107 mph (173 km/h). Max torque was 25.08 ft/lbs (34.0 Nm) @ 9300 RPM. Claimed horsepower was 43.05 HP (32.1 KW) @ 8500 RPM.
It was among the finest motorcycles to come out of Italy in that era. Based on the more powerful Benelli Quattro series of motorcycles that produced 55bhp, the Benelli 500 LS or Leggera Sportiva (Light Sport) produced 49bhp. However, it was supple and had more torque.
The Benelli 500 LS was essentially a Moto Guzzi 500 GTS (since Benelli and Moto Guzzi collaborated for motorcycle business in 1974 to 1986), thus saving over 10kg over the Benelli Quattro. The Benelli 500 LS also came equipped with dual disc up front.

The engine was a air cooled in-line four, four-stroke. A 56.0mm bore x 50.6mm stroke result in a displacement of just 498.0 cubic centimeters. Fuel was supplied via a overhead cams (ohc).
Drive[edit | edit source]
The bike has a 5-speed transmission. Power was moderated via the wet multi-disc, manual.
Chassis[edit | edit source]
It came with a 3.50-18 front tire and a 4.10-18 rear tire. Stopping was achieved via dual disc in the front and a expanding brake in the rear. The front suspension was a telescopic fork while the rear was equipped with a dual shocks. The 500 LS was fitted with a 5.02 Gallon (19.00 Liters) fuel tank.
